But I don't just want to announce it, I also want to show you some stuff and share a Free STL of the first ruin I've built with it! So if you like Grimdark Wargaming and free stuff, be sure to keep reading.
Free Ruin STL
You can get the building I showcase in the timelapse video above entirely for free here:
You can build any number of amazing, modular ruins and populate any number of battlefields with them! As you can see, everything in Battlefield Builder is fully colored and also supports multi-color printing! But I'll go into more detail on that topic in a future update.
The Tools
I've created a short showcase video of some of the tools. I'll explain the three main new tools in detail further below.
Ruins Tool
The probably most important new member of the tools is the Ruins Tool. With it, you can create perfect transitioning and modular ruins.
All three of these tools work like this: You click on the buildplate to start creating a ruin. You can then expand the ruin by clicking somewhere else on the build plate and using W and S to raise and lower the height of the walls.
To generate the actual ruin, press Enter or click the checkmark on the bottom right.
You can then still move WASD, rotate QE, and mirror M a generated ruin, or start creating your next ruin by clicking anywhere on the build plate.
Tips
There are a number of useful tips and tricks when working with the ruins tool:
Right-click to end the path you are currently drawing out. Click somewhere else and start a second path, all while keeping the first ruin editable. This allows you to create the entire layout of your table without any loading times.
If you don't like a part of your preview, you can hold down Alt to go into delete mode. Clicking on any pillar of the preview now deletes it instead of selecting it.
Hold down Shift to go into edit mode. While hovering any pillar, you can press W or S to change its height.
Press escape or the X button in the bottom bar to remove all previews.
Beta Access
If you can't wait for Battlefield Builders release, you can get Early Access as a beta tester!
Send me an email to [email protected] and I'll provide you with a beta account!
Kickstarter
Be sure to follow the Kickstarter Page or share it with someone who might get a kick out of Battlefield Builder. That is the absolute BEST thing you can do to help me out in spreading the word about this project, it would mean a lot to me!
I'm currently color-printing the sample building and I'll show you guys soon!

Greetings Architechs,
our next asset pack campaign is just around the corner, and this time we are venturing into the high north!
The Viking Building Kit is by far our biggest release yet. In the Kit, you'll find a straightforward system (18 different tiles) with an incredible amount of variation (over 600 STLs!) that allows you to create loads of different buildings from the same modular tiles. And it only costs 24$ if you sign up before the campaign launches!
You can also expand and customize the tile system with Townbuilder, or create your own completely custom Viking Village with the Viking Asset pack. It comes with over 1100 models for Townbuilder and will only cost you 40$ if you sign up before the campaign launches!
And lastly, we of course also offer ALL our previous releases in discounted bundles. And again, if you sign up to get notified now, you'll save a whopping 40% on our previous releases!!!
I hope to see you there!
Cheers,
Christopher and the Townsmith Team

New Kickstarter coming soon & Quick Survey!

Our next Kickstarter brings six customizable Halfling hills and burrows to Townbuilder. These come hand in hand with a HUGE asset pack with over 800 models to build with. And for the first time, we also offer to PRINT and SHIP these buildings for our customers if you don't have a 3D printer yourself.
As many of you know, Townbuilder's assets have been expanded every month via the subscription system for the last two years. Thanks to our subscribers, we have added thousands of models in over 20 themes to Townbuilder. By now, we have done all the "smaller" themes we wanted to have in Townbuilder, and we now want to tackle more ambitious, much larger themes with more customization options and more complicated sculpting involved.
We are also working on another project for Grimdark wargaming, which we will announce later this summer. However, what comes after the Halfling Village and the Grimdark wargaming project really is up to you guys! From these two campaigns, we can gather the community's interest in more custom-built tabletop terrain. But to understand what themes, genres, and gaming systems we should tackle next, we need your input!
So please take two minutes to answer our quick questionnaire and tell us what you want to see! Or just write a comment here!
