300k => Community Voted Set VI
almost 6 years ago – Sat, May 09, 2020 at 02:27:25 AM

Hey everyone (or maybe Archetechs or TBs, I like both of them, a vote with our favorites will follow),

since we somehow made 20k + yesterday it looks like we will actually crush the 250k stretch goal. Therefore I did the only reasonable thing a responsible CEO should do and encourage this even further by putting a 300k stretch goal up.

At 300k we will unlock the 6th community voted set of this campaign. I simply cannot see this happening....

...unless I was to reveal another AddOn later today which would cause a lot of people to raise the pledges again, but that would just be crazy, wouldn't it.

Sadly I cannot reveal the other two collabs we are working on and that might bring an AddOn with them yet, but believe me I will try to get there. If you want to help push for the stretch goals and you are looking to go all in on addOns anyway, you might want to put another 10 or 15€ in there just for good measure. If you put anything higher than that though, I can't promise you that you will actually see value from it. This btw is not including the AddOn I will totally not reveal later today.

We are getting closer to the 24 hours mark and with 230k just reached and 5000 backers within arm's reach we might just make the 250k goal before the sun rises again.

And on Discord, some people have been talking about Townsmith Merch, which I find a bit absurd. Let me know below if you would be interested in something like stickers, baseball caps and Tshirts.

Social Stretch Goal unlocked! Everyone gets Streets and Scatter!
almost 6 years ago – Sat, May 09, 2020 at 01:41:37 AM

Hey everyone,

we have just unlocked the Social stretch goal of 100 Backers via the link given in the campaign description.

To make up for the... well rough road there, we threw in a little something-something for free. You have fought hard to unlock this, so you earned it!

We are also just barely might reach the 300k goal, I swear if I check back tomorrow morning and my roadmap has been overrun I am gonna collapse.

And one more thing, I compiled some of the ideas for a community name into a poll, and out some of our ideas in there.

You can now vote on the community member name / term.

Last 17 hours, and I will need to sleep through at least like 6 of them, but what are you gonna do.

Cheers, and see you tomorrow,

Christopher and the Townsmith Team.

Final Stretchgoals revealed - Update on AddOns
almost 6 years ago – Sat, May 09, 2020 at 01:41:36 AM

Heyho Architechs,

I have just updated the stretch goal roadmap one final time. You can check it out in the campaign description.

We are going for some more Feudal Asia stuff, so that set also gets expanded!

The community poll is reaaaally freaking close between Swamp, Ancient Med, and Gothic, so if you haven't voted, do so now:

CVS 5 POLL

A lot of people have been asking for more info on the potential add Ons we will have so they can up their pledge now to help to unlock more stretch goals.

We just cannot tell you what will be available for sure and how much it will cost. I will try to break it down below, and I will always try to put the absolute minimum price everywhere so you will not waste any money if you up your pledge now.

THESE ARE ALL OPTIONAL AND ARE NOT INCLUDED IN ANY PLEDGE LEVEL

Scatter:

We will have the option for more scatter packs as AddOns. There are a few themes we want to add but couldn't hit with the stretch goals so they will be available as addOns.

  • Artisans Tools - Smithy, Baker, Tanner, etc.
  • Dungeon - Treasure, trap and dead adventurers scatter
  • Arcane - Wizard stuff
  • Marketplace - Different containers and equipment needed to run a market
  • Feudal Asia - We used the last stretch goals to expand the set, now it just needs scatter

These are just some ideas for the scatter, we don't know if there will be more or some of them not even making it.

Depending on how much content there will be in there, the all-in scatter pack will run you a minimum of 15€, probably more since we will find more cool stuff to add here.

Collabs:

We are working on 1 collab that will 100% produce something for the AddOns, though there are multiple ways to go there. If we go for the "small" collab this will produce some cool options for the Signbuilder and a number of high-quality normal signs for the other tiers. Since this is likely to make it, you can calculate a minimum of 5€ here.

FM 2. We will do some more tiles for the FM2 for Steampunk. We don't go hard here, we know there aren't super many people who want this, but not adding steaming pipes and engines to steampunk would be a missed opportunity so even if we lose money on this we will do it. These tiles will run you a minimum of 3€ depending on how many we actually do.

Skies of Sordane: Just a reminder that we announced an addOn pack with airports for 8€.

2nd Dynasty: Just a reminder that we announced an addOn pack for Scifi that will cost 15€. The SciFi scatter pack is in development and there is a lot we could add, but we don't want to put too much in there and make it too expensive. You can calculate a minimum of 5€ for that.

Merchandise:

Since you guys apparently want Merch, we are working on figuring that out. We will probably start small with 1 shirt, stickers and a baseball cap. If we manage to work with a local producer we might be able to up the quality on these because we can save on shipping costs from the producer to us, but there have only been some brief talks about this. I will just put the prices of other people's merch here since I would guess ours will be close to them.

Tshirt: 25€ Beanie: 20€ Cap: 20€ Stickers: 5€

Again these are far from final prices, we really have no idea, but since other merch stores have these we will probably be able to offer them as well. They do not include shipping. Remember we are based in Germany so shipping to Europe will be cheap, while shipping to the States and Australia/Zealand will be expensive.

With these minimum prices in mind, you can now up your pledge to reach for more stretch goals if you wish to do so.

If you want to go all-in (excluding merch and shipping) up your pledge for a total of 46€. If you want merch, increase it accordingly depending on what you want.

And again, there is no need to do this now and we don't encourage doing this now, but people have been asking for more info so here it is. If you want any of these things you can also increase your pledge in the pledge survey, there is no need to stress out other than aiming to unlock more stretch goals.

New AddOn and 24 hours countdown! Social Stretchgoal almost unlocked!
almost 6 years ago – Fri, May 08, 2020 at 11:05:32 PM

Hey everyone,

we are now officially within the last 24 hours. The "crazy" part of every campaign, as if the last days weren't crazy enough...

And as I have teased in the last update, we are ready to reveal another add on! Enough of you told us that you were interested in the airports and wanted more (and let's be honest here, I myself also want to have them to play with Benny's Airships)

If you have no idea what is going on here, check out the Skies of Sordane and find their late pledges here, if you have missed it.

Our airport system is compatible with the airships from sordane, so you can dock them onto buildings made in the Townbuilder!

So if you want some more airports, feel free to raise your pledge now or wait until we send out the surveys, both ways work.

And then there are the social stretch goals. A lot of debate surrounded them, but they are almost unlocked, with 77 backers out of 100 already jointing through the link.

Share this link everywhere you can to unlock the Mini Set Streets for every backer!

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/townsmith/townbuilder-unlimited?ref=c5kajm

They have to click the link and then back within the same browser session in order for it to count! And the workflow that some users suggested doesn't actually work since people don't reset their browser cookies before using the link. Kickstarter tracks your first referrer, so if you want to cheat the system please do it smartly and delete you cookies before using the link to re-pledge.

Onwards to an awesome last day of little sleep and lots of caffeine!

Let's crush those stretch goals!

Cheers,

Christopher and the Townsmith Team

48 hours starting off strong and a shoutout to DesktopHero3D
almost 6 years ago – Fri, May 08, 2020 at 12:50:46 PM

WE HAVE JUST DDoSed DESKTOPHERO3D. THE SITE IS DOWN BECAUSE OF THE AMOUNT OF REQUESTS IT RECEIVED! PLEASE CHECK BACK LATER IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN DESKTOPHERO3D

So ehm hey everyone...

I am a bit befuzzeled, where the hell are you all coming from?

We just stomped the 210k stretch goal and I updated the map. We also just broke the 4500 backer line.

Yesterday alone (which was supposed to be the last calm day) we raised almost as much as on the second day of the Kickstarter!!!

And there are still more people coming in every minute... It actually looks not too unrealistic to reach this 250k stretch goal now :0

So I will go back to preparing more versions of the stretch goal roadmap right away, but first I need to give a shoutout to our friend Andrew Stockton who is the developer behind DesktopHero3D.

He has been talking with us a lot behind the scene and will help us out with some boring software coding 3D stuff. And even though this collab potentially helps us out with the coding work, it only benefits you indirectly (relatively to the other collabs).

DesktopHero is our equivalent in the customizable miniature world. I know that Heroforge exists and is really popular, but just like Townbuilder, DesktopHero has a business model that is geared toward 3D printing. With DesktopHero you pay once to unlock assets, then you can use those assets to customize and download unlimited STLs, exactly like with the Townbuilder (this was the main reason we started talking :D). And, just like us, the community decides what 3D models get made.

I was part of DesktopHero's initial launch back in 2016. I tried it again a few days ago, and was impressed how it has developed since those early days. The quality of the models has improved, as well as the tool itself.. Give it a try!

And he's given us a coupon for Townbuilder backers (or maybe Architechs, I liked the sound of that name, but I'll gather the ideas and throw up a poll soon)! Use the code TOWNBUILDER at checkout for 30% off the Fantasy, Sci-fi and Modern packs.

I hope some of you will find use in his tool and we are looking forward to working with Andrew further down the line (his merchants will already know which cool feature we might integrate ;) )

Cheers, Christopher and the Townsmith Team.
