3100 Backers almost 140.000€... Exciting times ahead!
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Apr 25, 2020 at 01:02:41 AM

Hey everyone,

I finished my final exam yesterday and now I can finally focus on the Townbuilder again! We have reached 3100 Backers and almost 140.000€ and it doesn't seem to stop. With the last third of the campaign ahead of us, we are very excited about what is to come.

I'll just quickly give out some info for those of you who have joined, in case you don't yet know about some of this stuff:

We have a Discord Server where Tom, Moni, Oliver and I are very active. This is by far the best way to reach out and ask questions.

Almost every set that will be added to the Townbuilder is community voted. You can always find the latest poll at the top of the campaign and in the discord, and here is a link to the current poll, for your convenience: GOOGLE FORM This one will run for another day or two, so get you vote in while you can!

The Townbuilder is already in open beta, and we have created a community library where users can share their awesome builds: Townbuilder and Community library

We are working on a huge rework of all models to make them OpenLOCK compatible and prepare them for the 60k stretch goal. With that update there will be a lot of changes to the Townbuilder and we will allow the first people to test print stuff made in the Townbuilder. If you are interested in test printing, please apply using this application form.

Some people have asked us about a timeline, or when which set and feature will be available in the Townbuilder. To make an exact timeline we will need to get some more practise in, especially in the modeling part, so we know how long which set will take.

We still plan to launch the Townbuilder in late June, and it will include pretty much a perfected version of the Basic sets, and hopefully also the Premium Sets, though the OpenLOCK rework set us back quite a bit on the modeling schedule. As for features, we will look into finishing all basic features and UI elements first, and eliminate as many bugs as possible before launch. The custom signbuilder is already in the works, while the Render Studio is not much further than basic planning.

At the current rate we should be able to finish them in time, but even if not, we will still launch since the needed functionality is there and the other premium features will then be added over the coming month or two.

As for stretch goal fulfillment, we will handle those chronologically for the most part. Some features, like splitting floors and pegs and magnets will be included at launch, as we view them as pretty essential. Stretch goal models will be added piece by piece for testing and then in bigger batches once they are ready.

I hope this gives everyone who was interested in the order of things and a timeline some more insight.

I'll get back into coding now, talk to you when I can reveal more about our collab!

Cheers, Christopher

New Stretch Goals revealed! Community Voted Set 4 at 150k!
almost 6 years ago – Thu, Apr 23, 2020 at 08:14:40 AM

Hey everyone,

we have updated the stretch goal road map, adding some new concept art to older goals and revealing the goals up to 150k.

150k is also the most interesting amount, as there you can find the

COMMUNITY VOTED SET IV!

Yep, we add yet another one. As we came closer to the end of all small expansions we had planned for the premium sets, I decided that we should add yet another community voted set. We have the funding for it, we have another artist, we can take our time with fulfilling all stretch goals, so why not. Don't expect this one to be created too soon after the Kickstarter closes as there are quite a few stretch goals to do before it, but we are already excited to get to the point.

This also means that there will be two more community votes. We want to decide all sets before the Kickstarter closes to reach as many people with those voted as possible.

I am really looking forward to unveiling the collab soon,

Cheers, Christopher and the Townsmith Team

Welcome our new Team Member! Ore joins the Townsmith-Team!
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Apr 21, 2020 at 10:00:40 PM

Hey everyone,

as you all might have noticed, we are very slow with the concept art. This was due to us not having an artist. Monikas time is 100% taken up by modeling and I am both slow and bad at art, so after some time drawing the concept sketches I just gave up.

But this will change now! As many of you know, this Kickstarter blew up beyond our wildest imagination and we were not equipped to handle the workload with just Tom, Monika and me. Therefore I set out to find a new member for our team, who would be both a good fit character wise, but also proficient in 3D modeling and visualization of buildings and buildings parts.

Meet Oliver "Ore" Ingeln, our new artist:

Oliver "Ore" Ingeln - Master of the sunny aura

"Hello, my name is Oliver. I am new to the world of tabletops, dungeons and dragons, but have been working in 3D and modeling for many years. Actually, I was working in the field of architectural modeling and visualizations until a mutual friend brought me to Christopher. Since then I have been working on my sculpturing techniques for modeling your feature blocks and will also do some concept art! I am really happy to be able to support the Townsmith team while doing fun work. If you have any suggestions for details, get in touch with me. Can´t wait to model all this!"

It's me, Christopher, again: Oliver has been practising with our modeling software for a bit and until we will be able to work together from the office again in a couple of weeks, he will be primarily working on catching up with the concept art.

He will also be in charge of creating the concept art and visualisation of all of our future sets, as well as sharing the modeling workload with Moni.

Also, as we are approaching 130k... I hope you are excited to see what we have in store for the upcoming stretch goals... we will reveal the stretch goals up to 150k tomorrow, so stay posted for that.

And lastly, without saying too much... We have a really really cool collab coming and I can't wait to show it to you. I personally am really excited about that and I know a lot of you guys will be as well. Feel free to guess in the comments, some of you might already know what it is :P

Looking forward to the future, with a new Team and new opportunities waiting.

Cheers,

Christopher and the Townsmith Team

Hey everyone,

the poll for stretch goal set I has been voted to be CASTLE! The castle option will be removed and Druidic now joins the fray.

Check out the new poll here STRETCHGOAL SET II.

We also revealed more stretchgoals, this time around up to 130k.

Have a nice weekend everyone, talk to you soon!

The 100k Milestone taken... Welcome to the second half! (Stretch goals up to 115k revealed)
almost 6 years ago – Thu, Apr 16, 2020 at 07:21:41 PM

Hey everyone,

we just hit 100.000 Euros a few minutes ago... Something I didn't dream of saying but three weeks ago.

There really isn't much to say apart from thank you... thank you all so much for your support.

As for the second half of this campaign (it sounds insane but we are just about half through the 45 days), we will work hard on getting the Townbuilder and all models for beta printing and therefore closer to the official release in June.

I myself have to take a few days off, or rather take it slow since my very last final exam is coming up in a couple of days, but Tom and Monika will of course still be available for you if there are any questions.

As for stretch goals, we will expand the premium sets bit by bit by adding the stretch goals that were already unlocked for the basic sets to their model pool as well. We have some more exciting stuff further down the road.

I can't wait to start modeling and developing again and all of that thanks to you guys!

Cheers, and see you soon, Christopher

Just Cheers, Tom and Moni
