Premium Sets Vote tomorrow!

Hey everyone,

welcome to the new Backers that have joined today, we are very blessed to have you all on the journey with us.

The shortlist vote has been closed and the top 5 sets are:

  • Castle
  • Steampunk
  • Sewer's and Caves
  • Dwarves
  • Gothic

Before we will put up the actual poll to decide the Premium Sets we want to discuss what we think is possible with those themes in mind and where our actual goals are set. We don't want to create stuff that could already be easily found out there, though sometimes some things just have to be replicated so we can build onto them.

We will formulate descriptions that hopefully bring across our vision for the sets and will help you decide which ones you want to see. We will then update you once the poll itself is live.

And another little teaser, I am currently working on the single most requested feature of this Kickstarter and I am making ground on it, the light at the end of the tunnel is visible. Leave your guess below what it might be ;)

Hey everybody,

we got a lot of backers since the shortlist vote went up, and as we have about 500 votes on it at the time of this update, we believe that a lot of people don't even know about the vote.

So here I'll post another link to the google form. We will close the voting soon, so get you vote in as soon as you can.

After that we will prepare the polls for the Premium sets, those will be decided first.

Campaign AddOns, Yey or Ney?

Hey everyone,

the shortlist vote will stay open for a little longer as we currently still have below 500 votes and we don't want to exclude half of our supporters from the decision, even it is just the shortlist.

The thing I want to discuss with you guys today is something else: Campaign AddOns. A lot of campaigns have them but I am somewhat skeptical.

Let's first lay out what led to this post: We get A LOT of suggestions at the moment and we are thankful for them, we really are. And we really like a lot of them! But many of them are very specific and not everyone would actually find use in them. Additionally... we can only do so much in a given amount of time and pushing everything into the stretch goals would bloat them up and decrease their overall usefulness for everyone.

Now to the idea: What do you guys think about Campaign addOns? Basically, after the campaign ends you would be able to extend your pledge for things you want using the service BackerKit. These AddOns would include the following things (not a final list):

  • Wizard/Arcane Scatter + Misc stuff (Tables + Bookshelves with scrolls etc, portals, arcane apparatus, globes, etc)
  • Dungeon Scatter (Goldpiles, treasure chests, scatter traps, loot bag, piles of bones...)
  • Artisan Pack (Tools and furniture used in different craft shops, allowing to make a building a clear Blacksmith or Weaver, etc)
  • Port Scatter (Cargo, Folded Sails, Fishing Racks, etc)
  • Marketplace Scatter (different wares and stands to display them)
  • Outdoors/nature (different earth grass and plant tiles as well as trees and bushes)

And now the big one: OpenLOCK has granted us a BSD License, meaning we are now allowed to make the Townbuilder OpenLOCK compatible. So the last addOn we are currently having a look at would be the

  • OpenLOCK Pack (connectors for all sets so you can expand our buildings with everything OpenLOCK)

Just to be EXTRA SUPER MEGA CLEAR here: These would be extra costs and are not already included in your pledges. This was not part of our initial plan but neither was the scope of this campaign and we had a lot of people asking for this stuff. We would look at pricing per pack somewhere around 5€ and you could choose just one or get yourself a bundle deal.

We don't want to offer this if the community isn't comfortable with it. If you guys don't want this, it doesn't mean that these ideas will never come to the Townbuilder, it just means we won't be able to do them during the Kickstarter fulfillment. If enough people would be interested in this and we could raise some money from it we could potentially even hire another modeler which would make the fulfillment process even faster.

Community Vote - Shortlist is live!

Hey everybody,

we evaluated the Themes and AddOns form and prepared a list of themes that we think would be compatible with the Townbuilder.

And then we realized this list is pretty long. We decided that it would be unfair to just pick our favorites for you to vote on, so there will be two levels of polls:

The first one starting now will help us narrow down the list. Here you can vote only once and you can choose your favorite 4 themes. From the top choices of this poll, we will compile another poll that will make the final decision. There you will see first concept art for the sets and you will only have 1 vote instead of 4.

Day 2, still going strong. Fleshing out the community polls now

Good morning everybody,

after some much needed rest we are back at it. Overnight we unlocked two more stretch goals and the Kickstarter is still going strong.

We will soon close the suggestion form from the first update and evaluate it. Later today the community polls will go live.

We will use your votes to decide the two Premium Sets and the first two Stretchgoal Sets, one already unlocked and the second one not that far away on 45k!
